This review is from: Alien Autopsy (Ant & Dec) [DVD] (DVD)Based on the true story, this follows the story of two twenty-something surprisingly normal British lads, Ray Santilli and Gary Shoefield(portrayed by TV favourites, presenters Ant and Dec) who fly to America to buy footage of Elvis as part of a business scheme to copy and distribute the film back in Britain.
What Ray finds instead is a client called Harvey, who offers to sell him footage of something entirely different; an alleged authentic film from 1947 following the events of the Roswell incident, showing an Alien-being under autopsy.
Ray, believing he can use the video to amass a small fortune, brings the footage back to Britain to sell it, however, when he arrives back with the reel of footage, he finds that it's been damaged and is unwatchable.
Panicking, as he's already been paid for the footage that hasn't been provided to the threatening Laszlo Varos, a drug-dealer and fan of crop circles, Ray realises that he has little choice but to try and replicate the film. Bringing in a guy who shoots weddings on weekends, an undertaker and a butcher, Ray and his friend Gary start to re-enact what Ray claims he saw on the movie.
As time progresses what started out as a quick-fix money-making scheme escalates into an event that shook the world over and left people wondering for years whether their video was a hoax or authentic.
What's interesting, as I mentioned at the beginning of the review, this is based on true events, beal life or not, the movie has a lightheartedness about it, and isn't shot too much in a way that makes you feel as if you're watching a true story, it feels more like fiction which makes it far easier to enjoy. Ant and Dec's movie acting is also impressive considering their previous experience was only limited to roles in "Byker Grove" and a bit part in "Love Actually".
It's not as much of a flop as everyone had said, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I think many people will.
