The original "cyberpunk" novel,
By A Customer
This review is from: Neuromancer (Paperback)
A lot has changed since this book was published. I first read it in 1990 and was blown away by the concepts.
This book was written in the heady days of 1987 when a 486 with 4Mb of RAM was the stuff of a madman's dreams. For that reason people today will have a hard time identifying with the concepts which have been thoroughly explored and modified. It was written for a time in the future but portrayed futures never come true (I'm still waiting to visit the Moon and drive a car with cameras instead of mirrors). So the futuristic sharpness has been blunted but it still shines with gritty sci-fi, original ideas and an engaging story that deserves to be re-read.
