Excellent for explaining theory to children,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Music Theory for Young Musicians Grade 1 (Sheet music)
I came upon this book by chance, having previously always bought the ABRSM Music Theory in Practice series for my pupils. One of my parents got this by mistake - and what a brilliant mistake! At first I thought it could not possibly cover Grade 1 because it all looks so easy - but it does! Everything you need for the exam is laid out clearly with exercises which look attractive.
The book is very simply explained and the activities are much more gradual than Music Theory in Practice, broken into much more bite-sized pieces. The book has lots of bright colours and appears much less daunting for children.
The book would probably have too young a feel for teens and adults, but for all my primary (and probably lower secondary) aged children, I will be using this series from now on. I have just bought the Grade 2 for another pupil and it looks just as good. Highly recommended.
