Pardon the pun, but this album is fun.,
This review is from: Some Nights (Audio CD)
I can't remember the last time I was so excited about a cd or a band. I may be a bit older than the typical 20-something fan (okay, two decades older!) but thanks to these larger than life anthems and catchy tunes, I have been reborn into a giddy and squealing fan. I haven't felt like this in years. "Some Nights" is like a roller coaster ride. It will sweep you off your feet, take you by surprise and leave you holding on tight begging for more. All of the songs are catchy and upbeat - apart from "Stars" which is quite beautiful in its own way, hypnotising and surreal. I can safely say that there is not a bad track on this cd. I love them all and if you like "We Are Young", then watch out because that is just the tip of the iceberg. Tracks that especially stand out for me include the second single, "Some Nights", "Carry On", "Why Am I the One" and the bonus track,"Out On The Town". "Some Nights" is the perfect cd to kick-start your summer and a must have addition to your cd collection.

Mrs. Sue Appleby says:
I bought this album because of this review and WOW what an album. Loved every track and the louder played the better. I am also not 20 something but grew up in the 60's when life was about music. I must say that this is one of the best albums I have bought in years and I buy lots of albums.

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you love the album and that you found my review helpful. I am still playing Some Nights everyday and can't wait to see them on their UK tour this autumn. Their first album Aim and Ignite is also very good - a bit more quirky, perhaps, but still very catchy. Nate Ruess also appears on one of Pink's tracks (Just Give Me A Reason) on her new cd which is released this coming Monday.

Like the previous poster, I passed the 20 barrier some time ago.. I'd never heard of the band until my MUM who is 72 asked me to look up a song she liked, which turned out to be "Some Nights". She'd heard it on the radio and absolutely loved it; I bought the CD for her, ended up buying it for myself, and absolutely love it. It's rhythmic, lively, fun & uplifting. Heck, even my Dad likes it, and he's 75. Proof that music transcends age, generations, or even genres. I'm usually a die-hard metal-head, with a splash of Roy Orbison and a touch of Neil Diamond (yes, I have unusual tastes!).. modern music really isn't "my thing", with the exception of the wonderful Amy MacDonald, so to find an entire album with every song a winner was a pleasant surprise.
A good review, which I absolutely agree with!
