I think that perhaps I might not have been reading the same book as the other reviewers.,
This review is from: Dex in Blue (Johnnies Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
This book might have been a great tale, but I can't tell you either way, as I stop-started this 5 times before I finally gave up and returned it for a refund, having barely gotten to the part where Dex (II) and Kane meet.
The author's style was not professional, the writing was very choppy and 'out of the blue' - I'm not talking specifically about happenings, but how she went about introducing things and many, many (an overabundance, in fact) of side characters into the tale. I gave up, when once again I found myself wondering about who was who (she used both their real names, and their porn-star names, back and forth), and in which arc.
I may be reviewing this unfairly, but I'm comparing this to novels by 5* 'Keeper' authors such as Kaje Harper, Sue Brown and Lisa Worrall - and finding both the author and the tale lacking.
P.S - this came up as a freebie on ARe, so I got it and again went thru the stop/start thing, and this time round managed to finish it. It did have a tale and it ended in the start of a HEA, but I stand by my above comments, as the author really needs to read her work in her 'reader' shoes. It's confusing, has too many cooks in it, and she needs to imbue her characters with a bit more backbone.
