This review is from: Wooden Thomas & Friends: James the Red Engine (Toy)
James is one of my son's favourite engines and as one of the larger ones it works well as a toy too. The quality of this range is excellent and they are very durable. My son has developed a large collection and spends hours playing with them. I wouldn't recommend spending silly money on branded track - that is widely available elsewhere - but for a Thomas fan this range is so much nicer than the plastic stuff. At the age of 3-6, the non battery powered trains are actaully better as they focus the child more on the play element - making up stories and pushing them around themselves. The more self-driven the train is, the more it is just something to watch, which isn't very involving for a young child for long periods. Mostly they just want to get down on their knees and get involved in the trains at their level. My 7 year old daughter still enjoys playing trains with her brother in this way.
