What is all the fuss about?,
This review is from: The Da Vinci Code (Robert Langdon) (Paperback)
Where to start? Once, caught off my guard, I endured a Martina Cole "novel". This reminded me of that underwhelming experience. Come on, everyone. It's awful: stereotypical shallow characters, a preposterous plot - and poor writing. Of course, it isn't a novel: it's a B movie in book form. You can see that from the set pieces, gruesome deaths, unlikely dialogue, the pacing.
So what about the millions who read this and liked it? I don't know. Each to his own, and I wouldn't begrudge anyone a bit of harmless enjoyment. But there are just so many better books out there.
Sorry, but that's how I feel. If you want mindless action you can read in an afternoon and then forget immediately, go for it. But you'll wish you'd cleaned out the drains instead.
