Just the job for matted cats,
This review is from: Pet Trimmer Pocket Pro Black (Misc.)
Bought this item to help groom my two Maine Coon cats, neither of which is too happy being brushed but both like the great outdoors and often get slugs caught up in their fur (yuck!). This wee trimmer is great for getting off the matted fur that has gone like felt and would not brush out no matter how hard I tried. One of my cats is easily spooked and I worried that he would run a mile from the trimmer as it is quite noisy, being battery operated but I needn't have worried. Both cats are very tolerant of this trimmer and you can work away on them without even having to hold them down. I think this trimmer is great value for money. I love its size, the fact that it only takes one AA battery to operate it and it comes with oil, guard combs and cleaning brush. A real bargain and so much cheaper and less risky than de-matting under sedation (£90 at the vets!)

I thought my cat was the only one to get slugs in his fur! My semi Maine Coon gets them, and if I don't notice and pull them out while still "wet"... urgh.

Hi C. Dorn. The trimmer does make a bit of noise but I desensitised my cats to the noise gradually by turning it on whilst stroking them at the same time. i gradually increased the time they were exposed to the noise and only when they were used to the noise did I attempt to trim their fur. Both cats soon got used to it and realised it was nothing to fear.

I have a Maine Coon and she is a nightmare to groom - I can just about groom her topcoat but underneath is matted solid - so I hope works. She also runs a mile when she first saw the comb I was going to use on her. I have to wait until she's relaxed on the window sill. Desperate to get rid of the matting as it's not good for her I'm sure. Thanks for the advice.

The shaver didn't work. I have been busy so haven't yet returned. Sad because we need it. I hope a one off experience!
