i bought this book yesterday. i have to agree with reviewer "beki" on here. the book is beautifully put together. obviously, a lot of love and time has gone into researching and putting the content together. 'bowie style' has done an impressive job there and should be very proud.
however - the work is very much of one style. at a glance it could all even be of the same person. i'd describe it as cute, girly, naive. it's all the same: flowers, animals with big eyes, pastel colours. don't even start counting the russian dolls.
it's a shame really - as i had hoped that this book would be a great source book on surface design, but actually it is just a reflection of one particular trend in surface design.
the content of the book is just a bit too girly for my taste. in fact, apart from about 3 or 4 guys - all of the designers in the book are girls!! if that doesn't say enough.....
the low rating of this book is not because it is a bad book - it is not, it is a beautiful book. just not what you'd expect it to be when you read about it.
