5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful Guitar Work, 27 Oct. 2006
This review is from: Money Don't Matter (Audio CD)
I first saw this band at the Larmer Tree Festival 06, and was blown away by the sheer passion and talent the trio bought to their music. This album gives you a glimpse into the big bright future the band are heading towards. The distinctive opening title track hooks you in straight away, and 11 tracks later you end the album with a smile on your face and a spring in your step.

There is no doubt that Martin is an extraordinary guitar player (to watch him play live is tiring as your jaw hits the floor so often), and his bourbon tinged vocals add depth and soul to what are at times very clever lyrics.

With the tracks 'If The World's Gonna Change' & 'Blues at My Window' (which was apparently inspired by a stay at a Nunnery in Melbourne !), there are obvious nods to the great old time bluesman, but its not all the same. 'This Ocean' turns it's head to India with guitar and sitar vying for position, 'Dealer' brings a languid grunge feel to the table, and as for 'Can't Help Moving' well, it's darn catchy.

If you like Kelly Joe Phelps, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, John Martyn etc then you will not be disappointed with this album.

Oh and I advise you to check out this band playing live at the earliest possible opportunity.
