Set in the 1930's this is a real page turner of a mystery as 2 very different people try to discover the truth behind the disappearance of a young Irish woman who went to an abortionist and was never seen again until her body turns up in the hills above Dublin. Corrupt policemen, religious fanatics plus Irish and German Nazis abound, as the pair - a young Jewish woman and a Garda detective - end up in the free city of Danzig seeking answers. But that barely outlines the plot and characters who are richly drawn. The book is very well written and Michael Russell is to be congratulated on providing a thoughtful thriller with insights into love, death and friendship.
