Avid user & FCP,
This review is from: Final Cut Studio (Mac) (DVD-ROM)
After just having to switch from tape to tapeless, I was told `everybody uses FCP now'. So I spent a fair amount of money on a Mac pro & Final Cut Pro Studio.
My first thoughts were it's like a toy compared to Media Composer. I need a bigger monitor because of the interface when using the mouse - mainly because I've yet to learn the keyboard shortcuts! If Avid used Quicktime files like FCP, as opposed to only Avid MediaFiles (conversion wastes time) there would be no comparison. Any P.C. with a QuickTime reader could view the files without having to have Avid Media Composer installed. A dedicated Final Cut Pro keyboard is essential unless you are really bright!
