5.0 out of 5 stars Works great with iPad 3 and Apple Smart Cover, 16 Mar. 2012

This review is from: iTALKonline ProGel CLEAR TRANSPARENT Back Cover Glossy Tough TPU Case / Skin for Apple iPad 2 (2011) 2nd generation iPad 3 "The New iPad Retina Display" 3rd Generation 4th Generation 2012 (Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G + 4G) 16GB 32GB 64GB works with GENUINE Apple iPad Smart Cover (Personal Computers)
I took a small risk ordering this for my pre-ordered iPad 3 (before anyone else had confirmed it would fit OK), but I can confirm that it works great with the iPad 3.

I had two concerns... one is that the iPad 3 is very slightly thicker than the iPad 2 (0.6 mm thicker), and by all accounts, this case is a tight fit on an iPad 2. But I didn't have any problems fitting the case on the iPad 3. I just fitted the iPad 3 into one corner of the case and then slowly levered in the edges and other corners with my fingers.

The other concern was that the iPad 3 camera is apparently larger than that of the iPad 2, but not to worry, the camera hole in this case is plenty big enough, the camera hole is about 3 mm radius bigger than the iPad's camera - so there is no blocking of photos or videos.

I bought an official Apple Smart Cover as well, and it works great together with this case.

Do all the buttons function/press properly? It just seems odd that such a tight-fitting cover would fit perfectly on the thicker new iPad... Are all the "edges" of iPad covered, so that it does not stick out of the cover unprotected? BTW, have you used Smart Cover before? If so, were there any scratched because of it? Thanks.

RL says:
Yes,all the buttons work fine, and all the edges are covered. Although the new iPad is thicker than the iPad 2, it is only 0.6mm thicker, which is a tiny increase - I guess that's why the case fits fine.

Actually I have noticed that it is slightly difficult to connect the charging cable to the iPad when it is in the case, but only slighly, the case overlaps by a fraction of a millimetre, you just have to lift the case slightly with the connector when you insert it.

The Smart Cover works fine with this case, I haven't seen any scratches because of the Smart Cover.
