Not as well known, but every bit as good as Spectrum,
This review is from: Stanley Clarke (Audio CD)
Return to Forevers legendary bassist Stanley Clarke's first solo album for Columbia and one of the greatest ever jazz rock fusion releases.
Following hot on the heels of Billy Cobham's groundbreaking Spectrum album, this featured the same mix of electric & acoustic instrumental tracks, but the band here is probably even better. Perhaps the greatest fusion Supergroup ever put together
Tony Williams from Lifetime on drums, Producer Ken Scott capturing perhaps his best ever drum sound; Jan Hammer from Mahavishnu Orchestra on keyboards (as he was on Spectrum) and the great Bill Connors from Return to Forever on guitar. (In fact it is the only album to feature Connors in full jazz fusion electric flight along with RTFs Hymn of the 7th Galaxy - he spent the next 10 ten years on ECM inventing new age acoustic guitar)
With the aforementioned Spectrum and 7th Galaxy this is one of the essential fusion albums and a bargain to boot
