5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent return to Middle Earth, 1 May 2013

This review is from: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey [Blu-ray + UV Copy] [2013] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Who can fault this film? It's visually stunning and really well made, If you enjoyed watching the Lord of the Rings or like reading Tolkien you really should watch this film. The The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey soundtrack is worth listening to on its own ;-)

Really enjoyed this film in 3d. I have the 3d version of "The Desolation of Smaugh" on order and look forwards to watching it on it's release and then I will await the third film.. I have read "The Hobbit" but it was so long ago I have forgotten how much of the film relates to the book. Critics complain it isn't true to the book but what the heck it is still an enjoyable watch. I think "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy" was excellent and saw them at the cinema.

Every film that is adapted from a book will draw criticism as it'll never match exactly what we see in our head when we read. But this was a good match to the text, and it's got some impressive scenery to look at ;-)
