Great Story - Narrator could be better,

This review is from: The Blood of Gods: A Novel of Rome (Emperor) (Audio CD)
Conn Iggulden is a remarkable story teller. I read the book first and was held enthralled from start to finish. It is the type of book where one is keen to read more, but at the same time does not want the enjoyment of reading to end.
I bought the audio book as an addition to listen while driving long distances. My enjoyment was tempered somewhat by the narrator. Simple mistakes such as pronouncing the surname 'Pompey' in the same way as one would say the name of the town 'Pompei', after constant repetition become quite irritating. I wondered if for the narrator English was a second language. Irritations aside, the story made listening to the audio book a positive experience.
