worked effortlessly with Windows 7,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am using windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit. This Alfa adapter worked first time for me, with no difficulty.
I bought it as I find in some communal wi-fi areas the signal strength I see with my built in Wi-fi adaptor is weak and subject to drop-out. This gives me solid "excellent" signal strength.
It was easy to install and use, and I think it is great. The driver software comes on a mini-disc. (my laptop has a slot-load CD/DVD drive so I cannot use this directly. I copied the software to a memory stick on another computer).
The software installed quickly and as soon as I plugged in the Alfa it worked.
One important thing about using this , remember to switch off your current wi-fi adaptor if you have one, only run one at a time.
I like the overall size and the holder and "suction pad" for mounting. It all works well for me.
I would recommend it.
NOTE: it will not speed up your broadband, only potentially improve the connection from your PC to the wireless router (if you are having problems) or give you wireless if you have no adapter in your PC already.
It may be obvious to you (but is clearly not obvious to all reviewers of this and similar kit) - if you have a wireless adapter already and your signal/connection is satisfactory and relaible, then this adapter will do nothing for your broadband.
I repeat, it will not speed up a broadband connection.
I also tried this :TP-Link TL-WN822N 300MBPS High Gain Wireless N USB Adapter but I found the software interface slightly les clear, but more importantly it did not seem to give significantly better reception than my internal wi-fi card. The Alfa is definitely the solution for me.
