5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Value, 8 Dec. 2011
This review is from: ViewSonic ViewPad 7 ( 7 inch screen, Android 2.2, ARM11 600MHz, 3G, Wi-Fi, BT2.1, Micro SD slot, front and back camera) - Sim Free (Electronics)
These days this tablet trades at significantly less than you can buy any other tablet with 3G and GPS. It is light, a nice size, and comes with a free case. It feels sturdy, I haven't noticed it being slow (except with a live wallpaper). It seems to have good wifi, 3G and GPS signal strength. The screen is responsive, only needing a light touch, and bright.

Adobe Flash isn't compatible but Skyfire does the same thing better (uses less data when on 3G). You will need a micro SD card, as the internal memory is almost none existent, but that's £12 for a 16gb card. But if you can cope with using iplayer through the web interface on skyfire, this device offers significant financial savings over any other genuinely branded product.

Contrary to what one review suggests it does not need a special car adapter, but it is mini USB not micro USB like most new devices.

There seeems to be thousands out there wanting to run Iplayer on ViewSonic7 IF YOU have a solution please email me at calco@calcoge.co.uk - I have loaded skyfire and iplayer still says you need to load Flask 10, and we know ViewSonic 7 can not do that! Any answers out there?

you need the skyfire video add on. which can be bought from the android market. then it puts a button, bottom left on my setup, which enables you to view any video on that page. or you could try www.m.tvcatchup.com.

I downloaded SkyFire, (before I posted) I used skyfire to browse iplayer, but when I tried to download / watch from iplayer it responded you need Flash 10.x (and we all know viewsonic 7 unable to deal with Flash 10.x )
Skyfire suggested the video add on was active (free for 3 days)
I don't think I have that button bottom left, can you describe this further?
I do not want to loose contact with YOU as you have iplayer working !!
I will try it again of course!

Charlie.

when at any page with video, the menu bar at the bottom should apear briefly, if you miss it press the menu button on your viewpad and it will re-appear. there are lots of useless buttons but the left hand one is video. press that, it will load iplayer, then once loaded press the video as normal to start watching. works best on wifi, but will work on a good 3g signal too.
