The Denon AH-C260 uses a wide array of technologies that supposedly give it excellent sound quality such as the Acoustic Optimizer, Hybrid Housing and a Radial Cascade Damper. The Acoustic Optimizer is supposed to give it superior acoustic effects, whereas the Hybrid Housing which is made of a combination of different materials helps it to absorb vibration. Lastly the Radial Cascade Damper suppresses noise transmitted through the cable.
In my opinion these are the most comfortable earphones I have ever used. The silicone ear pieces are very comfortable and easy to insert. I have also had no problem with them falling out and I'm pretty sure they would stay comfortable over a long period of time too. Denon say they are ergonomically designed to fit snugly into your ears and I have to agree with that statement. The silicone piece that came with it fit my ears perfectly and there are an additional 3 silicone ear pieces to make a total of 4 which range from (XS/S/M/L), so anyone should be able to get a perfect fit with these.
I think the design is very good and the whole thing appears to be made of plastic but it has a kind of premium feel to it. These do not look or feel cheap which is a good thing considering they don't cost anywhere near high end earphones and they are fairly light as well. Also there does not appear to be that much noise transmitted through the cable when it moves around. This was a big issue with the Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220 Earphones that I previously owned, you could always hear vibrations and echo's when the cable moved. It turns out that Radial Cascade Damper actually does work!
However I have found that if you move the cable around with your hands you will hear vibrations and echo's but, if it's just brushing against your body or clothes then you are not likely to hear that much if any noise at all! This is a huge improvement and definitely sets these earphones apart from others in this price range! Oh and one last thing, it comes with a cable clip too so you can attach it to your clothing which should stop the cable from getting tangled and also help it to stay in place as well as decreasing those vibrations and echoes.
One last thing to add is that the cable itself in my opinion seems to be good quality, the top part of it is not too thin so it should hopefully not break and the bottom part of the cable seems fairly sturdy to me so that should not be a problem. Also the cables length in my opinion is the perfect size, it's not too long so it should not hang around, and it's not too short which in most cases would require an extension cable to be added to it. It also has a gold plated L shape stereo mini jack which should increase the durability of the cable as I have found that those with a straight stereo mini jack always seem to break easily as the cable is forced to bend more.
The genres of music that I like to listen to are, Rap, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae and Dancehall so my experience will be based on these types mainly although I have listened to a few other genres too but I would not call myself an audiophile. By the way I listened to music for a couple hours before using these earphones because the only way to get the best out of them is to actually use them for a long period of time so they can be optimized and set. If you just use them out of the box they will not sound at their best, you have to give it time. The same goes for any earphones you buy!
Anyway these earphones seem to have quite a lot of bass which is good because most of the music I like is really bass heavy but the bass does not overpower the rest of the song the vocals sound really good too and you can hear a lot of the highs, lows and trebles also which makes for a very good listening experience which I think really brings the music to life.
These sound much better than the Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220 Earphones that I previously owned and I would even go as far as to say that they sound better than my old Shure Se310 Isolating Earphones which were fairly high end and cost about four times more than these ones do! Like I said I'm not really an audiophile but I'm willing to bet that these ear phones sound just as good as a lot of other high end earphones out there that cost a lot more than these do but that would not surprise me considering that Denon made these for their 100th Anniversary so I'm guessing they put a lot of time and work into them.
Now as for its sound isolating capability, I would have to say that its very good. When you have the ear buds in with no music on you can hear what is going on around you though everything does not sound as loud its more muted, however when you have them in with music playing I have found that it seems to block out most noise and ambience sound which is excellent when you are out travelling but it does allow you to hear some outside noise which I think is great anyway because, you don't want to walk around like a zombie unaware of your surroundings do you! They also seem to be fairly loud so you should not need to turn the volume up too loud which means they should be gentle on your ears.
These earphones are superb they cost a fraction of the price of higher end models and sound on par and in some cases better than those above its range! The build quality seems to be very good although only time will tell how long it really lasts but for this price I don't think you can go wrong I highly recommend this product!
