This review is from: Monroe - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
There is no point in going into the details of each episode as this will just spoil it .
Monroe is a brilliant and unusual neurosurgeon. A flawed genius who never lets anyone forget his flaws or his genius. Each episode features one compelling story of the week about life or death situations.
Gabriel Monroe, portrayed by James Nesbitt who can do no wrong in my book. Furthermore, in general the operations and the way the series tells of the background of the guest characters, are done in a very stylish and effective manner. It was also good how the cardiac centred stories were shown in an equal amount to the neurosurgery ones. Also the operation themselves and how they are done are just remarkable, such as when they have to stop a patient's heart in order to transplant it and when a patient is awake during the operation on their brain.
A tiny bit gory at times and laced with a little black humor here and there. All in all a very enjoyable series and any comparison to House is just a waste of time. Two totally different series.
Add to Monroe Dr Jenny Bremmer (Sara Parrish) and you have it. Worth every penny
Sit back and enjoy this wonderful British series.
