This review is from: KitSound BOOMBAR1 Bluetooth Portable Speaker with Built-In Mic for Smartphones/Tablets and MP3 Devices - Black (Accessory)
Good value for money money at £15 (it was a special offer). After an initial panic when it just wouldn't work (the instructions don't make it clear that the battery does not come installed, it's lurking in the box and needs to be fitted - obvious with hindsight of course, or indeed to anybody who knows more about battery powered gadgets than I do) I linked it to my Windows phone and it sprang into life and immediately impressed with the quality of its sound. It's not going to win any hi-fi awards obviously but for such a small unit the sound is excellent, with more bass than you would expect. The Bluetooth connection is easy to set up, although the stated 10 metre range is perhaps optimistic - mine tends to be temperamental beyond 3 metres or so. Quite adequate. One slight fault - the red charging light is supposed to turn blue when the battery is fully charged. Mine just goes out, but the battery is charged and lasts for several hours (20 according to specifications - I can't confirm that but it has yet to die on me). The battery incidentally is a standard Nokia type and easily obtainable. I find the unit great for linking my phone's mp3 player or radio when in the garden (the volume is fine) - it avoids wear and tear on the headphone socket, always a weak point in any mobile device. Comes with a good quality carrying case and leads for charging and for connecting it to any non-Bluetooth enabled device.
Edit A later reviewer has checked with the manufacturer and the charging light just going out is apparently not a fault. It's the instructions it would seem that are misleading.
