First impression: Seems OK, but...,
I've just been given one of these to house a new 1TB drive. There were no surprises in the box. Everything I was expecting was there, all the leads seem to be of reasonable quality, the unit seems pretty robust and, while the single-sheet 'manual' is minimal, it says everything there is to say about using the unit.
One small gripe, however: The opening where drives are inserted has a sprung, hinged flap. This has a cut-out to allow 2.5" drives to be inserted, leaving the flap in place to prevent dust etc. from entering the unit, I presume. When a 3.5" drive is inserted this flap will fold back. On delivery, the flap has a piece of tape fixed to the underside, looped across the top and stuck to the body of the unit, preventing the flap from moving during transit. To remove the tape it's necessary to peel the tape off the unit, put a finger into the 2.5" drive opening to hold the flap still and press the tape down, peeling it off the underside of the flap from above. When I attempted to do this, however, the flap came off its 'hinges' (little plastic stubs) and the spring flew away. As far as I can see, there's no way I can reassemble the flap/spring combination without opening the unit and invalidating my warranty.
Fortunately I'll be using the unit with 3.5" drives, so the opening is never likely to be left open. Just as well, because I really don't want to have to return the unit and wait for a replacement.
