Cleans air but plastic off gassing makes me feel sick,
This review is from: Prem-I-Air Hepa Air Purifier with LCD (Kitchen & Home)
For some ungodly reason the black plastic used on this machine absolutely reeks. I left this unit outside last summer for several days solid for it to offgas with no effect, it still smells just as noxious. Also after looking into the pros and cons of Ionization I would be cautious about using the Ionizer function - do some research!
On the plus side it does a good job of removing dust from the air - the only way I can use this machine is to let it run in a room to clean the air then take the unit out and box it up and then air the room to get rid of the plastic smell.
Really I am at a loss as to why they have used such noxious materials - the grey plastic doesn't seem to smell just the black top.

Hi, yes I agree with you about the horrible smell of the black plastic. In fact I sent my first unit back as I thought there was something wrong with it. They did send a replacement very promptly and unfortunately this smells just as badly and I realise that it is the black plastic in the machine. Like you I switch it on when I'm not in the room but the smell does linger and it does concern me as to why it gives off such a strong odour so I now only use the machine if I'm having building work done in the house. I am really at a loss as to why other people who have reviewed this product don't notice this dreadful smell and describe the air after using the machine as "fresh" "like clean mountain air"! I hope the seller investigates. I'm wondering if some machines are being made by different manufacturers who use a different coating on the black plastic? It's ironic that an air purifier leaves the room smelling so awful. I'm very envious of those who are left with mountain air freshness.
