A good and gory addition to the series,
This review is from: Saw VI [DVD] (DVD)With Special Agent Stahm (Scott Patterson) dead, the sinister Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) has emerged to carry on Jigsaw's murderous work. With the FBI drawing ever closer to maniacal Hoffman, the detective is cornered into setting yet another gruesome game in motion: a blood-drenched pursuit that will finally shed light on the really reasons behind Jigsaw's grand scheme.
This sixth instalment provides all of the graphic violence, imaginative and sick traps and some shocking twists, as you'd expect from the series and also gives a lot more background into Jigsaw's life and some of the reasons why he does what he does. Hoffman is more twisted and evil than ever, some characters return as well as new ones introduced. This is a good, entertaining horror that any fan of the series will love, however I did find that the new characters weren't all that great. For example, the unfortunates who are on the roundabout trap are in the film for, what - 30 seconds before meeting there possible demises, so I didn't really care one way or another who would live or die. Other than that, this is a great addition to the series, the gory special effects are excellent and truly stomach-turning, the story digs even deeper into the over plot of the six films (and leaves lots of loose ends for another sequel) and the action is as exciting as ever.
Overall, although this isn't the best in the series, if you've seen the other films then I definitely recommend watching this, if not though I imagine that this film won't make a lot of sense so you should go back to the brilliant start.
