Should be a set book at School,

This review is from: Charley's War: Underground and Over the Top v. 6 (Hardcover)
I know it seems strange for a comic to be recommended reading for school, but this is really a great introduction to First World War History. It humanises the most inhuman of conflicts and engages readers of all ages. I should know I read it as a child when it was first published and it is still as good as an adult. Must be read in series with the other 5 books so you understand what is going on. Pat mills tried to put in a strong anti war and anti establishment message, but it is not so overt as to spoil a great story. It cant have worked to well as I ended up in the army despite reading this, mind you I made sure I was never a Capt Snell!

I agree totally. I am a history teacher and have used these strips over the last 10 years to help teach about the trenches to great effect. The students really seem to enjoy it and learn from the stories. If I could afford it I would put these books in to every school library, and every town library too!
