The customer service department made no comment on the reviewer's remark about the policy being void after one claim.

Indeed.
And that is probably wise of them - although I understand that the policy is (allegedly) only voided after the full insured value has been paid out.
As to the proportion of the value of the goods being charged for the insurance - compare that with a high street or web quote on house contents, value for value, and this becomes obvious as a sucker bet.
It punishes those who did not pay attention in maths class (or learn to bet on things successfully) at school. <grin>
