Great fun... but only a 'good' game,
This review is from: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GameCube) (Video Game)
With so much to enjoy - fantastic worlds, great foes, interesting puzzles and much shooting... it is definitely a game worth playing. Especially when the number and quality of Gamecube releases is diminishing rapidly.
There are moments of sheer awe in it - that you want to take in, were it not for the amount of activity going on around you (mostly different beasts and instruments trying to take you on and out). There are clever bits where you really feel that you HAVE thought through and worked out the solution.
BUT... the reason it doesn't get five is that it didn't spur me on to complete it (yet!). Somewhere in the frustrating dark levels, the endless (and enforced) to-ing and fro-ing between worlds towards the end of the game, and the repetitiveness of re-spawning enemies I lost interest. Perhaps I will re-gain it, perhaps not.
It is Metroid all over again... different, but not really that much better. Which is not a crime, but I had hoped for more revolution...
