DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE VERSION OF THIS BOOK,
This review is from: 'Have You Seen...?': a Personal Introduction to 1,000 Films including masterpieces, oddities and guilty pleasures (with just a few disasters) (Kindle Edition)
PLEASE NOTE: THE ONE STAR IS FOR THE KINDLE VERSION AND NOT A REFLECTION ON THE QUALITY OF THE BOOK
This is an excellent book. But to have presented it in the Kindle format with no contents page means it is not a book that one can dip into, as I'm sure David Thomson intended. The only way to navigate it is page by page (even with the smallest font this means two screens per entry). So if you're on 'There Will Be Blood' and want to go back to the entry on 'Ace in the Whole' or 'The Magnificent Ambersons', you're going to get cramp in your thumb from pressing the navigation button.

Mr. V. Thurgood says:
The print copy of the book doesn't have a contents page but a chronology at the end listing Thomson's 1000 featured films by date. There is no index of film titles, directors, actors, etc. The fault isn't specific to the Kindle edition.

I guess the problem with the kindle is that you can't just flick through the pages as quickly as a book and do need a contents page to avoid spending an hour just seeing what films are covered. But it's a great book.
