This review is from: Devil in the Detail: A small town mourns the death of a daughter (DC Scott Cullen Crime Series Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
I very much enjoyed the first Scott Cullen mystery, and the sequel didn't disappoint. Ed James writes a solid and mostly well-paced police procedural, and this one held my interest with its theme of religious cults and our propensity to make superficial assumptions about people without knowing the facts....I won't say more in case I give the end away! But I think Mr James and I would share certain moral and political (small p) standpoints. The story would be improved by some final editing to speed up the pace - there are places where things are going a little too slowly, and there's the wrong kind of detail; but that's a minor point. I'd pretty much guessed the end about a third of the way through, but the writing is good enough and the momentum sustained enough to make me want to read on through to the end. So well done Mr James, and I'll definitely be in the queue for the next Scott Cullen mystery.
