This review is from: Football Manager 2013 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
On first view of this years football manager I was impressed. I had expected more of a football manager 12.5. However, the game looked great and there were many improvements, I thought I was really going to enjoy playing it. But, after only 20 minutes of playing the game it began to process quite slowly, and after playing one match in 3D I realised my laptop was going to have to settle for the classic 2D. However, it struggled to even process that. As time went by on the game, my laptop struggled more and more.
I'm not saying you shouldn't buy the game because its slow, just check if your laptop will be able to handle it first. I'm sure many people will have a gamer laptop and this will review will not apply to them, it will handle fm13 as easy as any other game. However, I have a dell inspiron with a 2.2Ghz processor, and it's around 2 years old. My laptop would overheat after a couple of hours on fm12, but on 13 i'll be lucky to make 30 mins.
The slowness of the game becomes just too frustrating to play, and I find I can only play the game in short bursts. I'll keep it, and continue to try and play it, because, when it works properly it's a great game.

I've found the game to run just as quick as FM2011 (the last version I bought). It sounds like your laptop has issues with overheating, which may cause the CPU to underclock. I'd advise opening it up and having a good clearout of dust to see if it improves things!
