It's no ipad - but it's not supposed to be,
After an elongated argument with collegues at work about ipad (ibooks) vs kindle (I'm an ipad owner who commutes) I finally folded and decided to try the kindle. Clearly it's not quite as pretty as ibooks, and clearly it doesn't do much else - but that's the point. This is a brilliant, (suit) pocket sized gadget that allows you to read books (or pds) with ease. Moreover, despite being lighter and smaller it's efficent, functional design makes it considerably more resistant to damage and therefore you feel 'safer' using it public.
The software is also of mention - ipad, iphone etc all run Kindle software - whoever thought of this deserves a reward because it makes buying the kindle book a no-brainer. It's often cheaper and quicker to be released and by defintion no loss of text. Also, if for example you are reading in bed and want the backlit screen of say the ipad then just load up the kindle app and it automatically opens at the most recent page read regardless of device used - genius.
So do I recommend it - if, you want a great gadget to give easy access to a huge library in a light, user friendly package - then absolutely.
(Apologies as this is clearly a very specific review for a small subset - but thought it may help some !!)
