4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product with just a tiny flaw, 14 Jun 2011
This review is from: Sony KDL24EX320WU 24-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p Edge LED Internet TV with Freeview - White (Electronics)
Well, it's a Sony and you get what you pay for. Picture quality is superb, design is sleek and elegant, and sound quality is better than an equivalent Samsung.
It's the only TV I could find of this size and in this price range with built-in Interner connectivity, which for me is a major plus. Despite qhat I read in other comments, there is no need to buy any extra equipment (dongles or similar) to connect this TV wirelessly to your router, and connection is very easy and straightforward with the video tutorials on the Sony website. The TV can be used to browse the net, although typing in the URLs via remote control makes this task almost impossible. Nevertheless, access to youtube, Lovefilm.com and the on-demand websites of Channel4 and Five are good enough reasons to justify choosing this TV over competitors. I was a novice of Internet TV and was amazed by the excellent image quality you get from these websites: it's impossible to spot the difference with the standard digital signal... I'll be subscribing Lovefilm.com soon!
One disappointing flaw is the design and location of the aerial socket on the back of the TV, which requires connection of the plug (and obviously cable) perpendicular to the back of the screen, rather than sideways, as for all other connections. This is not an issue if you are planning to keep the TV on its stand but, if you decide to mount it on the wall, you'll be forced to keep it at least 40mm from it which, in my opinion, defeats the point of having a super-slim LED TV.

I bought this television for my wife's room, it has a good picture as long as you stay directly in front of the screen.
Basic set up easy, I have not connected it to the internet as yet.
Very good price from Amazon S.a.r.l. Normally, I try not to buy from american companies, but prices and service are so often hit the mark from Amazon, and I think that I trust them.
The quality of the transport companies they use are not good.
Amazon certainly do not package their items as good as things purchased and delivered by John Lewis on-line, the television was packed in the same box as you would get if you bought it from a shop in the high street, the latter's delivery drivers are also much more gentle with the packages; I can't remember the company that delivered this television, but it was a white van and the driver handled the package like a piece of rubbish, and showed no respect for the items inside.

Did you have to do anything in particular to get 4oD services through the internet TV or was it there from the get go? My set has iPlayer and DemandFive but not 4oD.

G. Dell'Anno says:
Apparently the 'on-demand' service is not available for 4oD or ITV player. It appears that Sony has been negotiating with the broadcasters to deliver these channels for a while now but, to date, with no success. You'll find details and technicalities in a forum thread on the Sony UK website, here: http://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/thread/116502
Hope this helps!

you can buy right angle co-ax connectors which would help with the mounting plenty on flea bay for roughly £3

Apparently this reviewer is not at all aware that there are aerial connectors at 90 degrees, which eliminates the need to have the socket on the side.
So this SONY is pretty much the best TV you can buy for the bedroom or the kitchen.

G. Dell'Anno says:
Dear Alexandru, this reviewer is aware that there are 90 degrees connectors, in fact, that is exactly what it is currently installed on the TV. Nevertheless, the protruding layout of the socket prevents any installation of the screen closer than 35-40mm from the wall. Apart from that, I agree with you: this is one of the best small LED TVs available on the market.
