One small step for man...,
This review is from: Omron Walking Style II Pedometer (Sports)
This Omron pedometer is brilliant. If, like me, you're trying to shed a few pounds but can't be arsed with the gym - walking is great and this is the perfect accompaniment.
Make sure you enter the length of your average stride fairly accurately so it counts your steps properly (you can test it by guessing a length, then walking a few steps and checking it's counted the right amount, and if not - alter accordingly), then you're away. I just chuck it in my bag or my pocket in the morning, then have a look a few times a day.
It comes with info about what you should be aiming for (the magic number seems to be 10,000 steps per day, which I find is about an hour and half's walking in total) and once you've got that (or any) target in your head, you'll find yourself walking more than usual to make sure you hit or get close to it. And with small adjustments (getting off the bus a few stops early, walking up stairs instead of getting the lift, etc etc), you'll find it's not as difficult as it sounds.
It's also handy to see how many calories you've burnt off and the distance you've walked.
So yep, I wholeheartedly reccomend it. Happy walking!
