This review is from: Kodo: Ancient Ways. Lessons in the Spiritual Life of the Warrior/Martial Artist. (Paperback)
Ive always tried to keep a sense of humour in my reviews and in so doing I developed a humourous philosophy to life... 'Always make an impression' they told me, be it good, bad or awful.. After all, its better to be remembered as a fool, than forgotten as a nobody.. Atleast thats the way I saw the mentality of society today.......

And society today is precisely why I love this book so very much...

You see as a life long student of Martial Arts I have come to see things inside myself that most people would often miss, possibly because they seem too obvious, too simple to take time over in an over complex and technologically fired world.. A world thats come to see problems instead of solutions and commercial fame has soared over the most basic of human potential, the heart, spirit and the soul....

Maybe its that which inspired me to follow the old legends and tales of the far away mountains and lifelong aspirations of ancient japan...

My teacher always told me I read far too much and as I came to understand, being a memory for many words is nothing more than a waste of living.. For the true passion and artistry that we have within us is our own potential to make something truly amazing, not to be just another memory bank soon to become outdated by the international corporate systems...

And yet this book continues to be so much more than 'just a few more words' its in my modest opinion, what martial arts and our world as a whole is beginning to lose in favour of the more profitable sports schemes that promise a 'fast track to fame' supremacy, leaving the future of a thousand years now destined to become little more than a black belt party trick for a few unwanted pounds at your high street chain of seasonably acceptable clothing...

But like many who tried to for warn me, 'wise words fall on deaf ears' and its a try it for yourself type of world thats always looking for the catch you out part, in the small print...

So heres where the masters of the past now rest in the modern day assessment of things, a few simple words that took a hundred generations to perfect, now available to you at less than two hours wages....

Maybe thats the very reason you will pass on by without truly taking the time to make use of the words so carefully written within these pages and bring them to life once more in your own personal way...

So whether your a martial artist who seeks a little more understanding on a path that leads many to confusion, or an up and coming champion contact fighter heading for the next british championships in karate..

I thoroughly recommend reading this book and taking a part of it with you, for there is the potential to become better than we ever imagined within all of us...

And remember, you dont have to be wealthy and famous to make a diffence to somebody..

Even if that somebody, is yourself..

Safe Journey!
