Great Little Camera,
This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix T200 Digital Camera - Blue (14MP, 10x Optical Zoom) 2.7 inch LCD Screen (Electronics)As with some others reviewing this product, I own a DLSR as a "main camera" and bought this to carry around every day when I don't want all the kit and caboodle of a full set up.
I've been very impressed with it. It offers a good level of flexibility with plenty of shooting modes, or you can set it to a "fully automatic" setting where it will do all the work for you... just press the button. Talking points are : the "panoramic" photo feature, where the camera will "magically" join three landscape shots together to form a panoramic shot, and the Face Recognition system (that's "recognition" not just face detection) where the camera will pick out the faces of your loved ones from the crowd and help you organise you exposures accordingly... well that's the claim!
Results have been more than satisfactory for a compact in this price range... I would go as far as to say that they are excellent in most conditions. The 10x zoom is a nice feature for this money, and build quality seems robust. Pictures can appear a little grainy in low light conditions - but hey, we're talking about a sub £ compact here, and if you read the reviews of many premium compacts (e.g. Panasonic Lumix TZ20 - which is considered a good camera at nearly twice the price) the criticism is just the same (as indeed is much of the functionality).
I don't really have any gripes... perhaps the positioning of the mode dial means that it is easily knocked out of place when removing the camera from a case, but that's about it really.
All in all a "little cracker" for the money in my book. I can also recommend the relevant Fuji leather case which is not supplied with the camera sadly, but worth the small extra investment to keep things looking shiny.

A good review, but why have you posted it twice?

Thank you for your kind comnent. The camera is available in a number of colours, each of which has a different listing with Amazon. Hopefully there is only one review per listing. Regards.

I'm familiar with Amazon's product group system, but if you check you'll find that it appears twice under the blue version, one posted on 6th July, and thisone on the seventh.

Yes, you are right. I don't know why that is Barry... I can only assume that I submitted the same review for the same colour item twice by mistake. I'm glad you found it helpful. Regards.

Snoopy Girl says:
Nah, you probably posted for the different colours, but amazon collates the reviews of all slightly different specs together and presents them under similar products. I.e. all reviews from all three different coloured T200 cameras will be displayed for each one of them (as they are the same model).
So not your fault really... ;-)

That's what I thought at first, but there are two identical reviews under the same colour, one posted a day after the other. Check out Steel Squirrel's other reviews and you'll find other examples of unnecessary duplication.

Barry, This seems to be developing into quite a thread. I'm not too sure why this is such a source of interest, but I assure you that I do not sit at home typing out repeat reviews for the same item as a habit. If the same item is advertised under a different listing purely based on it being an alternative colour, I will have posted the same review for both colours in the belief that my experience may of use to potential purchasers of either variant. I'm not sure what Amazon does with it from there... but I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it. If it helps people, great. If not, just ignore me (the wife does).

So you posted twice, I can deal with that, why all the fuss ?

Commenting with regard to the actual camera as opposed to posting of reviews, I agree it is a good camera - but also agree that the position of the wheel on the side is not clever as it can indeed be moved unintentionally when taking out of the case (and I thought I was a very careful person!).
Also I dislike the way it munches battery charge... I've had to buy a spare to avoid the second day shut down! My other older Fuji takes AA batteries (albeit I use the superduper ones) and seems to last for months. I can only conclude this machine is just being too clever... a bit like all those mobile phones that need charging depending on usage. But a bit of organisation is really all you need...
