1.0 out of 5 stars Buy the single not the album, 22 Jun 2009
This review is from: A Woman A Man Walked By (Audio CD)
I should have not bought this album. She is always trying very hard not to repeat her last works.
The 5 stars reviews are the fans that no matter what she releases, she is always right, if one day she decides to make music with a broken maraca and a guitar with one string, they would say it's artistic and poetic.
You have to remember that she said she does music for her and does not care what the other people think, including her loyal fans.
BEST of PJ Harvey 1991 - 2004.

If Kylie Minogue or Madonna make music for their fans does that make them any better!?

I find your critique of P J Harvey's collaborative endeavor with long time friend and guitarist/composer John Parish to be so far off the mark, so lacking in understanding and acknowledgement that you leave me no choice but to conclude you are an Idiot. Music is not about being right!!! It's about having the courage and belief to express yourself. Artists create because they need to, it is in them and needs to come out.! You do this for yourself, for your own well being because you need to: 'Mine is not to compare and contrast, mine is to create'
Remember, just because you see no value in something does not mean there is nothing of value there.

Mr Pumpkin says:
If P J Harvey did make make music with a broken maraca and a guitar with one string it would probably be brilliant. Maybe you should stick to your safe pop music though.
