Not as impressed as others,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Your Pregnancy Bible new revised and expanded edition (Hardcover)
I'm disappointed by this book, which we bought on my husbands account (I'm not Pete!).
I was immediately put off when I opened it at random to a picture of a woman sitting in a car while her husband is doing up her seat belt for her; I can't imagine at which stage this is going to be necessary but it certainly wasn't for the lady in the picture! The rest of the pictures are also pretty cringe-worthy. This is a petty point but it gave me a first impression that unfortunately didn't change much.
It doesn't have all that much information about how the baby or your body develops, and the rest of it reads like a lifestyle guide or glossy magazine. It spends a lot of pages on fairly obvious things like healthy eating, getting a good night's sleep, maternity clothing etc.
There is a lot of information about labour, birth and beyond. On the whole the content is good, but the level of balance in the information concerned me after reading, in a short section on water birth, "opinion is divided on the safety of water birth", with no suggestion of why. Having never seen anything before suggesting water birth is unsafe, I feel that including such an unreferenced assertion is irresponsible, unhelpful at best.
All in all, this is not a pregnancy bible. Given the title, I found precious little overall about pregnancy and think I would have been better off with the Dorling Kindersley Maggie Blott book The Day-by-Day Pregnancy Book: Comprehensive advice from a team of experts and amazing images every single day, which I might order next. If you're looking for an overall pregnancy, birth, baby book then this might be fine. If you're looking for everything you need to know about pregnancy, this doesn't cut the mustard in my opinion.

I agree with this comment I was very dissapointed with the book and it did not by any means be a 'bible' to pregnancy. I was after useful information on week by week development and pregnancy not lot's of pictures and basic information about general health and after the baby is born.
