600d 18-55 kit lens,
This review is from: Canon EOS 600D Digital SLR Camera (Incl. 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens Kit) (Electronics)
After upgrading from a Canon 450d, I can say this is a good if not great up grade, the low light capabilities of this camera cease to amaze me. Out standing images from such a high ISO. up to 3200, after that noise will become a bit of an issue if your going to be picky. Next up is the ability to control Canon flash's wirelessly, with full e-ttl, for full control, this is not possible on the 550D, and opens up so many creative ideas, for off camera flash. last is the variable screen, and I've found this makes you want to us the live view more so than when I had the 450D, as its so much better to compose a shot and then switch back to normal shooting without have to get in to all sorts of positions. All in all a good upgradable, and well worth the extra over the Canon 550D, if you think you will use the extras above.

Mrs. G. Langridge says:
I am thinking of getting this as a second camera, my 50D is too heavy for casual photography. Would the off camera flsh work with the 430EXII speedlight would be great if it did. Don't want to buy a new flash unit.
The fact that noise is weel controlled up to 3200 ISO will be bonus too as my 50D is only just OK at 1250.
With Live View how hungry is it on batteries? I don't use it on my 50D but would be useful with the swivel screen for macros outdoors, I do butterfly and insect photography.

The 430EXII speedlight will be controllable from the 600d, i've found the battery performance to be good, if not very good, i bought a battery grip, so this is not an issue for me, but found using live view did not use to much on the battery. The screen is stunning on this camera as well.
