This review is from: Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky [DVD] (DVD)
I bought this dvd because of the great reviews on Amazon, however, I had to give up watching at about two-thirds of the movie as I fall asleep with boredom.
The costumes and locations are good, but the story is dead boring and pointless - unless we consider it a point that if you don`t stick to your aim, you won`t get anywhere.

Totally agree- I can't understand the previous top reviews. Watched with my mum and we usually both enjoy these type of dramas but this was just so slow! The script and story line were so repetitive. Okay if there is nothing on the television and you have it on in the background, you don't need to concentrate on it to follow. I would reccommend 'the painted veil' (edward norton) if you want a period drama.

True, but a great film for those addicted to nowhere losers, period costumes, & downers. Even the author got it between the eyes, dying of liver failure due to alcholism.
