This review is from: It's Signing Time 2 (DVD)
As soon as I realised there was a new DVD out from Signing Hands I jumped onto Amazon. The first DVD It's Signing Time [DVD] never left the player unless Iggle Piggle or Mr Tumble was making an appearance. At the time of buying this DVD my son was 20 months old (he was 13 months old when I bought their first DVD). We've had the DVD now for three weeks I think and as soon as he gets up or comes home he is stood in front of the television using the sign for "sign" and then says please.
He doesn't need the actual Makaton as a form of communication but his understanding improved because of it before he could utter his first words. The 28 songs on the DVD are all ones he loves and the starting and concluding songs let him know that the whole DVD has come to an end. With a running time of 55 minutes it is a pleasurable amount of time to sit and interact with him, especially when song 10 comes on (Pirate Song).
As with their first DVD the song titles appear on the screen in bright colours with the symbols above them so that he can identify what is happening and because the presenters talk a little before singing he has a chance to process the information. Although he's not quite two he loves this DVD and if he's ever not at nursery and we are at home with him he'd have us watching this twenty times over.
Unless Singing Hands bring out another DVD then I think this will be a firm favourite for a few years.
