Having met nervously, weathered the BDSM and 'submissive' parts of Christian Grey's life, struggled with his execs and his tortured self image and past, Anastasia Steele, now Mrs Grey embarks on her final journey with her 'fifty shades' Christian Grey. She is still struggling with his manic controlling tendencies, which now border on the insanely paranoid, still struggles with working for a living at the SIP, even although there's little need for her to work (although she says its so that she doesn't turn into a vacuous social xray), still swings from dealing with her husband's moods and now has to deal with someone who wants both Grey and herself gone and who has links to Christian's past which he seems reluctant to talk over and also threatens his family.
I read all of these books as one, as I suspect they were meant to be read and found them absorbing. The way in which Ana loves her 'Fifty Shades' and manages to deal with the crises that develop throughout this book is quite thrilling. Yes, the writing isn't Thomas Hardy, but then this tale isn't written in the last century. It is about a very modern relationship and the 2 people dealing with their insecurities, an excess of wealth and Christian's reluctance to admit that he is deserving of Ana's love as well she of his.
In this book, we delve more into Grey's tangled mess of a past and learn more about his relationship with Elena Lincoln and, briefly, his involvement with Leila. We also deal with Ana's inability to get organised, which has long-term consequences. We find out more about the extent of Grey's desire to control everything, which stems from his troubled early years. Ana's basic inability to follow Christian's orders and her friends relationship with his elder brother, a major accident, a kidnap plot which almost goes wrong and other aspects are all dealt with. Will Ana be able to finally find happiness with Grey or will it end in tears?
