A Kid's Review
This review is from: Street Child (Paperback)
I didn't really like Street Child. It had some words that I couldn't undestand too well. The main character, Jim Jarvis was a young boy around 7 or 8. He lived with his sisters Emily and Lizzie, and with his Mum at first. the stick man sent them away from their rented room because they didn't pay the rent. Jim was taken to the workhouse. That was the most exciting bit really.
If you were learning about the Victorians this book would tie in very well. You could have lots of discussion about this book. You could talk about the characters and their feelings. For example you could write about how Jim felt when he went to the workhouse.
