This review is from: LES COUSINS [THE COUSINS] (Masters of Cinema) (DVD) (DVD)
I bought this DVD as it had received a good review in the newspaper. I watched for 45 painful minutes before ejecting it from the DVD player. It is slow, dated and the characters are REALLY annoying. Not one of the characters is appealing. The portrayal of young Parisians as hedomistic, uber-wealthy, slightly bored types spiralling towards an inevitable bad ending can't be entertainment...can it? Even the character of the bookshop owner seemed far fetched. Abominable - I have given it to a very good charity shop.

Yours is definitely very much a minority opinion. I hope there's still time for you to salvage the DVD from the charity shop and watch it again with your brain a little more engaged.

It is just CLDC's opinion nothing more nothing less and i gave it a five star rating because i really love this film but i found it funny to read that he has given it to a charity chop hence my previous response ROFLMAO. A French saying goes ( free translation ) that we don't discuss tastes and colours but we keep on doing that however moreover important is what Voltaire apparantly has said " I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." To end this thread i would like to add that nowadays it is common for people to offend eachother so you call the reviewer brainless because he does not like this film so i would like to add that this is a very narrow minded approach of the thread above. Only a fat cat considers himself more educated and capable enough to watch a Chabrol apparantly :)
