Packed in envirornment which handles nuts, gluten, soya, milk, peanuts etc,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Suma Ground Almonds 1 kg (Grocery)
I was very disappointed when I received this item as in the smallest of print (for which I needed spectacles to read), it says
"PACKED IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHICH ALSO HANDLES NUTS, PEANUTS, SESAME SEEDS, GLUTEN, SOYA, MILK AND SULPHURED FRUITS."
Which means it is absolutely of no use to me !
Why, wasn't this stated on the description?

Thank you for posting your comment (warning other potential customers of this product, as I was going to order it), that the ground almonds are packed in an environment where there are possible contaminents such as gluten. My wife is allergic to gluten and becomes very ill if she ingests it, sometimes being ill for up to 3 weeks or more. It is very odd indeed that ground almonds are packed in such an environment.

It stands to reason that they provide more than one kind of product and that if they sell ground almonds, that they sell other ground nuts as well.

For the people worrying about cross contamination. All machines are cleaned after use of each product, they have to put this on the label by law even though the risk is hardly a risk at all. Like most nuts have on the packaging "may contain nuts" ;)

If only this were true in all facilities, but sadly it's not. I hear stories about NOT cleaning down and cross contamination on a regular basis from a friend of mine who has worked at a couple of facilities and complaints to management are ignored. Also there are those of us who are extremely sensitive and this is why I started this thread. In fact I'm still in pain with arthritis in my fingers and thumb joints from eating a small amount of dessicated coconut in January which wasn't clearly labelled as such.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm Coeliac and can't tolerate gluten.

Why don't people read the info on the packaging, look at the picture it clearly mentions the packing environment.
