It's just like meeting up with an old lovable friend time and again.,
This review is from: Frasier: The Complete Seasons 1-11 [DVD] (DVD)
I've always said that Frasier may not be the best ever sitcom (although it has to be up there). But Frasier is most certaintly without doubt the show that has the most lovable characters EVER! Frasier himself, although a rich smug at times is so over the top silly with a heart of gold in there it's hard not to care for his character. Niles his brother is smuggish near the shows beginning but is also so wimpish and panicky, that you always feel for him. Their father Martin is a common man and is placed so well into the shows fabric. He always knows when to bring his sons back down to Earth again. Housekeeper Daphne is actually English and gives a great slant on the show with her Britishness. And of course lets not forget Roz, Frasier's assistant in his job. A man eater with a tongue sharper than a machete.
The main list of characters are all backed up by some wonderful other characters, too many to mention.
The show is just spectacular and expect to see a few Cheers characters appear from time to time, given that Frasier is a spin off of that show. And that is what I also love about the show- the continiuity. It allows us to invest our time in the characters and grow with them through 250 episodes over 11 seasons. I'd say the first 7 seasons are the best, and the show does seem at its strongest during the time Niles is trying desperatly hard to make Daphne his girlfriend. Seasons 8-10 are still passable though not on a par with the earlier material. Thankfully the final season saw the return of Christopher Lloyd et all, and it was vintage stuff.
I'd like to dedicate this review to David Angell, one of the shows founders who died in the 9/11 attacks. RIP.
