Benefit of the doubt at 4*,
This review is from: Jack Reacher [DVD] (DVD)
For me this was somewhere between 3 & 4 stars, before this I have never read a Lee Childs novel, something that I have now rectified. I have no problem with Cruise being Jack, yes he is no where even close to the book character but he acts the part well enough. This film was made in the hope that there would be some money making sequels, so why start with this story ? I haven't read the full series but at least start at the begining & to be honest I think that it would have made a much better platform to introduce the viewer to Jack/Tom.
The film starts well enough but loses it's way at the mid point & doesn't really recover, you near enough feel that "they" changed script writers halfway through. It isn't really a bad movie but you do feel that it could have been so much more.
