Not bad, 2 UK DVDs released, which one is better?,
This review is from: Moon 44 [DVD] (DVD)
Not a bad little 1990 scifi movie and from Roland Emmerich but not great either so don't expect any Alien or blockbuster epic. In the UK this movie has now been released twice as at the time of writing (2 June 2012). I will give differences below as I own both releases.
Release 1 released 17 March 2003 by Hollywood DVD Ltd, ASIN B00008RWV4, cat no HOLDD275, EAN 5017633202751
Movie is 4:3 Full Frame apart from the credits section.
Sound: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (was made in Dolby Stereo)
Run Time: 95"32'
Extras: None, only scene selection. Amazon listing and DVD product state a trailer is included but as per actual disc there is no trailer. Strangely side 2 of my disc copy has a FBI warning (it's a UK release) followed by colour test bar with sound warning for full 95+mins of disc.
Release 2 released 15 December 2008 by Boulevard Entertainment Ltd, ASIN B001KTRFK8, cat no BVAR0011, EAN 5060179610115
Movie is full 2.35:1 Widescreen throughout.
Sound: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Run Time: 95"52'
Extras: None, only scene selection.
So the better DVD is the latest 2008 Boulevard print, its widescreen and the reason for the slightly longer run time is it has the original Spectrum Entertainment Group-Warner Bros. Pictures Presents A CineVox Release production logos at the beginning, these were omitted from the 2003 print.
