Here we are, the only official live Gabriel era Genesis album out there.
The thing that really grabs me about this masterpiece is how the songs are 10 times more powerful than the sublime studio versions. Crank it up and listen to the incredible " Watcher of the Skies", " The Musical Box" & " The Knife" if your in any doubt. " Get 'em Out by Friday" & " Return of the Giant Hogweed" add to the sheer majesty of all this.
Legend has it that a live recording of " Suppers Ready" missed the cut, as the record company thought it was, " Too high risk" to release it as a double!!...You couldn't make it up!!!. I bet whoever made that decision never recovered from it....LMFAO!!!!

.........apart from the first archive boxset of course which has the whole of the 'lamb lies down on broadway' live (possibly from wembley if memory serves).

The live version of Suppers Ready is usually on YouTube (and certain unofficial CDs) - its the one with a full ending instead of a live-fadeout, and the spoken intro has the old man in the park saying: "if I cant get into their [the birds']heads, I'll getinto their damn stomachs instead!"
