The book was slightly different from what I was expecting. The premise is quite an intriguing one, of a character being inducted into a secret society, finding their way into a mystery.
There is a mystery in the book, but perhaps not the one you will be expecting. As it says on the cover blurb, the head of the society disappears shortly after inducting the main character into the society, but this mystery is never explicitly solved.
Perhaps that is a good thing, as sometimes it provides more food for thought when we have to draw our own conclusions and when there is space to use our imaginations.
There are also some good ideas in the book - a mystery about books that are classics in which the stories are slightly divergent from what they should be, that somehow the books have become infected by something contagious in the library.
The game played by the society members, which the lead character uses to find out about them is also an interesting idea - although I would probably not want to be a member if having to play it was the price of joining!
