Buy this before getting a cheap telescope,
This review is from: Philip's Stargazing with Binoculars (Paperback)
This handy-sized book shows you that you don't necessarily need to purchase a small telescope to appreciate what the night sky has to offer. Each month is covered by a broad view of what's on offer, then a more in-depth look at the highlights follows. Insets give background information on general objects. Then we move closer to home with a look at The Solar System, then the all important choice of binoculars, finally a guide to their use.
Many Astronomy books are good at showing colourful, dazzling images of space, but this book doesn't set the beginner up for a fall, by realistically showing the type of view you would expect.
Wish I hadn't started out with that 40mm telescope (many years ago!)
